It could be a real adventure.

“This could be a real adventure. No more pretend.” - Win, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

I watched a new show with Jack this weekend. In the beginning, a main character finds an actual starship buried beneath the dirt in the woods. The kid named Win doesn’t know exactly what he stumbled on, but he knows it’s something real. It’s at this moment that Win realizes he doesn’t have to play make-believe any more. He found the real deal. So he takes a step into the unknown, mysterious starship. And this marks the beginning of a great adventure.

This line and scene in the show got me thinking about how we all play pretend at times in our lives. Perhaps all along, we’ve had our own version of a real starship buried within us. If we pay attention like Win did, we might see hints of what’s beneath the surface. If we are brave, we will step inside. We will find the real deal. We find that we don’t need to pretend anymore. And perhaps this will be our greatest adventure of all.
