Believing is seeing.
My five year old firmly believes that leprechauns come to visit around St. Patrick’s Day. According to Jack, these leprechauns are mischievous pranksters, leave treats for the kiddos, and almost always leave green sparkle traces in their path.
We were out walking recently (approximately two months after St. Patrick's Day) and he spotted some random green sparkles on the sidewalk. Without pause, he excitedly announced that a leprechaun was definitely here.
It was really cute and got me thinking about the certainty Jack expressed in that moment. No alternative reality existed in his mind other than: green sparkles = leprechaun’s been here.
It also got me thinking about the times when I can be a lot like Jack.
What we believe, is what we see. Even if it’s not real.
