Keep dancing.
Party in the USA is still one of my favorite go-to dance songs. I thought it was my kiddo Jack’s too. But when I recently started playing “our song” for a little at home dance party, Jack protested: “Mom, NO!”
For a moment I thought our dancing days were done. But then Jack requested Eye of the Tiger and I Love Rock ‘N Roll.
Cue change in music. And, like magic, Jack and I busted out some sick dance moves for nearly an hour. The Mom and Jack dance party was back, thanks to a new playlist.
Our new favorite songs felt like a little reminder. We will all get out of rhythm at times with someone we love. It might just mean we need to find a new beat - to rediscover something that keeps us feeling connected to ourselves and each other.
Sometimes we’ll find it, and other times we won’t. But no matter what, we each deserve to try.
Like the song says: “put another dime in the jukebox, baby," and just keep dancing.
