So effing loved.
This time of year, we're bombarded with reminders that Valentine's Day is around the corner. If we're single, it can feel like a lonely reminder. And yet, those candy hearts and heart shaped stuffies can also be a reminder of the love that's all around us - and inside us.
For me, it’s a reminder of the little moments that fill my life with love. The tug on my arm from my kiddo Jack, asking me to hold his hand or give him a hug. The look back and last wave to each other when I send him off to school. The spontaneous "coffee?" text from a friend that becomes the break from the day we both needed. The one-on-one meetings at work where creativity and support thrive, and we forget we’re working. The mornings I wake up sandwiched between my dog Lizzy and my kiddo who snuck into my bed. The phone calls I get to have with my dad or mom. The promises I keep to myself.
It may not be packaged in grand gestures, boxed chocolates, or bouquets of flowers. But it’s the kind of love that builds, moment after moment. It’s the kind of love that I feel so lucky to have, and be part of. It’s the kind of love that endures. If we pay attention, we’ll feel it. We’ll see it all around us. Valentine’s Day and every day.
Remind yourself. Remind others. You are so effing loved.
