Trust the signs.
I just returned from a 10 day work and personal adventure around Japan. I figured I’d likely get lost several times. After all, it’s a completely different language, culture, and written system.
I was mostly wrong. English was way more common than I expected. Plus, there were lots of symbols and visuals that helped point me to where I wanted to go. Things like arrows, specific colors, and images of trains or temples made all the difference. Even when I did get lost, I came to understand the signs. They usually helped me get to where I wanted to go.
The whole experience felt a bit like navigating life at times. We don’t always know exactly where we are going. There is no universally understood instruction booklet on how to live a good life. We will probably get lost. But if we pay attention, we will see the way. We will come to know the signs. We will learn to trust the signs.
